TITLE: Another town, another bar.
FANDOM: Buffy the Vampire slayer
CHARACTERS/PAIRINGS: Faith/Pike
RATING: M
WORD COUNT: 1,236
WARNINGS: drinking, fighting, sexual situations
SUMMARY: A chance encounter in a bar.
Ok, so this was brought up in a random place, but where is the Pike love in the Buffy fandom?! And why does he never meet Faith? So the muse bit and this was the result. Set post-Chosen. Written as a one shot, but may be continued into a series if the muse stays.

Also, if any icon makers on my flist is able to, could they make me a Faith/Pike icon?!

Another town, another fight, another bar to chill in afterwards. Faith was almost starting to get into a routine life. Since the destruction of the Hellmouth things had been pretty sweet, for the most part. She hadn't wanted to join the Scooby Gang on Mission Find Slayers, a decision which pretty much everyone agreed with. She may have earned the tentative level of trust that allowed her to go off without a chaperone, but she was never going to be friends with these people. Not really. And for the most part she was cool with that. Things with Robin cooled considerably when the novelty of being with a bad girl wore off for him and she made it damn clear she was never going to be the dedicated soldier Buffy was.

So she traveled. Got herself a motorbike and headed off on her own, traveling from place to place and fighting bad guys as she found them. In this particular town, name already forgotten, somewhere in Texas it was back on familiar turf as she beat the unliving crap out of a bunch of vampires. She was still picking vamp dust out of her hair as she slid onto a bar stool, ordering a bourbon with a smirk and a wave of a twenty. The barman gave her a look. He'd clearly seen hundreds of girls like her over the years, smiles that were all trouble and sin. She tried to look innocent and clearly failed as he half smirked and shook his head, pouring her her shot of alcohol.

She picked up the glass, watching the dim lights of the bar reflect in the amber liquid for a moment as she tilted the glass first one way then the other before holding it up in a silent salute. She'd killed the bad guys, saved the day. Too late for the poor bastards already drained of blood lying in undignified heaps on the floor of the warehouse the vampires had taken over as their nest. She sent a mental apology their way before downing the shot and gesturing for another. Cue another look, another smirk and another shot of bourbon poured in the glass. Faith was about to drink that too when her attention was grabbed by the entrance of a guy. Hot, leathers implying a biker like herself. Tired too, as evidenced by the way he eased himself onto the stool a few down from her.

"Bourbon," he called out, causing the barman to shoot her an amused glance as he slowly wandered down, still holding the bottle from serving her and pouring him a shot. As the guy reached into a back pocket for a wallet Faith caught a glimpse of a stake strapped to his belt.

"I got this," she called out, causing both men to turn and look at her. The barman shrugged and took her offered money as the stranger smiled slightly.

"Thanks."

She nodded and got her first decent look at him. Definitely a vamp fighter of some kind. If the stake wasn't enough of a give away, the crucifix hanging around his neck was a clear clue. And the scar over his eye.

They drank in silence for a bit, neither moving closer to the other, but every now and then buying each other another round.

Finally Faith spoke. "So what brings you to town."

There was a sigh and a rueful smirk. "Thought I could do some good. Arrived too late. Nothing left but dust and ash."

Clearly he'd been hoping she'd pass over the comment as some badly constructed metaphor. Instead she smirked and pulled out her own stake. "Yeah, sorry to steal the party."

His gaze went from the stake back to her and she could see a sudden mix of emotions enter his eyes before he spoke. "Slayer?"

"You know of us?" It surprised her slightly, when other had heard of the legendary Chosen Ones. Or Thousand. However many there were now.

The guy half laughed, staring at his almost empty glass. "Knew one once." There was a pause as he finished the drink and gestured for another. "Long time ago."

Faith nodded, understanding. Poor chick would have died a while back. Had to have been, for her to be Called after all. Whatever cosmic joke for the Powers that had been.

"Sorry."

He waved away any comments, eyeing the barman who refused to move except to glance pointedly at the clock. "Damn," he looked over at Faith. "Guess that's our cue to leave."

She smirked slightly and nodded, sliding off the stool and leaving a few more notes on the bar to cover any final drinks. Moving past the guy outside she took a deep breath in the cold night air, wondering idly about doing a patrol to help the good citizens of wherever this was survive until morning. She almost jumped as she felt cool fingers brush over her neck.

"You've got a bruise," the guy commented, not concerned, he didn't know her to be concerned. "Thought you girls were indestructible."

For a moment Faith remembered the fight, the tight grip around her throat as a vampire tried to move in for the kill, lungs burning for air, kicking punching, always fighting because if she wasn't fighting she was dead. "Rough fight," was all she said and the guy nodded. He stared at her for a moment before moving forward and kissing her, hand wrapping itself in her dark hair. She could taste the bourbon on his lips and a wistful desperation and she wondered if he was thinking about that other Slayer he once knew before she decided she didn't care. Because he tasted good and it had been a rough fight and she wanted to feel alive.

He pulled away, just enough to talk. "Which motel are you staying in?" His voice had turned slightly rough and he hadn't let go of her. She looked up at him with a hint of a grin. "Yours."

It wasn't a question, simply a fact. He nodded and gestured to motel across the street. There was no hand holding, no coyness. They just walked across the road, getting a room from the bored looking receptionist. They didn't even touch again until they were inside the room and he pulled her to him roughly, kissing her hungrily and groaning slightly when she gave as good as she got. They tumbled onto the bed, clumsily pulling off clothes and rolling over each other. Finally she's on top, tugging off her top and looking down at his smirk.

"You got a name Slayer?"

"Faith." And never had a name been less appropriate for a girl. It must have showed as his smirk widened before he quickly rolled them back over so he was on top, sliding her thong, red silk, the only soft thing about her, down her legs as he kissed along her shoulder, sending shivers up and down her spine. His hand trailed back up the inside of her thigh as he shifted himself more on top.

"Nice to meet you Faith."

She spread her legs for him, reaching up to kiss him again. "You got a name hunter?"

There was a strange look in his eyes before he answered. "Pike."

He slid inside her, making her body arch against his with a moan, instantly forgetting any fish puns. "Nice to meet you Pike."

She tried to look innocent and clearly failed. Very nice setup.

This is a great little story. You've planted a ton of little seedlings that could yield whole crops later. Their lack of conversation is going to lead to all sorts of emotion-laden revelations, if they stick together for any time at all. Of course, Faith could just flee, as usual, but I get the feeling she might be ready to connect with somebody. A little.

I'd love to see more. It's terrific when writers pull out an unexpected character, and fit them in so well.

Thank you!

My original plan was just to have this as a one-shot as someone put the idea in my head, but now I've started it I have muses annoying me to continue with it and see where it goes. And yes, you're right, there will no doubt eventually be emotion-laden revelations!

Oh my God Pike! Luke Perry was so delish in the movie and I loved the character. I like this as a one-shot, it can definitely stand on its own, but I also love the idea of there being more!

He was possibly the best thing in the movie! Hadn't thought about him in ages then suddenly saw a comment someone made and went... hmmm...

Now the muse has well and truly bitten and I suspect more parts will follow. Not at all because I'm bored at work, honest!
